Make it Urban Modern but NOT Rustic: High School Senior Photo session in Missoula, MT
She loves color. She is creative. She wanted something that was urban and modern but not rustic. Downtown Missoula Montana offers such a wide range of beauty and interest for photos. We met at Clyde Coffee on Higgins near the hip strip of Missoula Downtown to start the session. I was immediately drawn to the pink chairs and the fun umbrellas for a pop of color. When this girl senior showed up in her green pants and white crop top I knew we were going to have fun together.
After settling into the session and getting to know each other a little better, I learned that she is an artist herself. Working with fellow creatives and artists always feels like cozying into a collaborative groove and is always fun.
We soon made our way to a local park where I knew the flowers were in bloom. I had been dying to put my new ultraviolet backdrop in a bag to use and I knew she would be the perfect person to play with it. June is a perfect time of year in Missoula for lush greens and colorful flowers that make a gorgeous backdrop for photos.
After our quick stop at the park we made our way to a nearby alley in the heart of Missoula. The historic brick buildings in Missoula create some added interest in just about any alley or corner of downtown.
For her second location, she wanted senior photos by the river. Her family loves spending summertime whitewater rafting down the Alberton Gorge just west of Missoula. She loves the lush green and bright blue water of a stopping point along the scenic float trip and wanted to adventure there for a few photos.
We played by the water, scaled the rocky mountainside, discovered wildflowers, and spotted some butterflies. It was a perfect summer day in Montana for unique and creative senior photos that truly represent who she is.
